Smart Assistance Systems (05/2011 - Present)

Development of sensor-based driver assistance systems for fork lift trucks.

RACE (12/2011 - 01/2015)

I was researcher, developer and coordinator of the FP7 EU Project RACE. The goal of this FP7 EU research project was to develop an intelligent, experience-based mobile robot platform. The finalized system was running with ROS and Gazebo on a PR2 robot. Implementation was mainly done in C++.

Robot-Era (01/2012 - 10/2015)

I was researcher and developer of the EU FP7 Robot-Era Project. The goal of this FP7 EU research project was to develop a domestic mobile robot platform for eldery care. The finalized system was running with ROS and Gazebo on a Scitos G5 platform. Implementation was mainly done in C++.

I was co-organizer of the ROSCon 2015 Conference, 10/2015, Hamburg and IROS 2015 Conference, 9/2015, Hamburg

Multi-Robot Platform and Mixed Reality (10/2010 - 07/2011)

The goal of this project was to develop a multi-robot collaboration system. The ideal use case is that you state a problem that only a group of robots can solve together. Which robot (capability) is required is to be determined automatically. As a result I devolped the Robot System Abstraction Layer (RSAL) which is based on the PlayerStage robot platform and uses the BDI multi-agent system Jadex. The resulting system was mainly implemented in Java.

Automated Furniture Graphic Generation (06/2011 - 12/2012)

For an online shop selling shelves an configurable fotorealistic 3D representation should be developed. The resulting system was based on the CSG renderer POV-Ray, an XML description of the shelf configuration and a Perl script generating the render code.

Animated 3D Short Clip (10/2009 - 03/2010)

Animation film created in the course of the winter term 2009 as part of the master's study with POV-Ray and cut with iMovie. More info at expo.rockel.cc. The "making of" at ivc.rockel.cc.

A-GPS integration on a cellular platform (01/2008 - 01/2009)

SW and HW integration project to add an A-GPS capability to an embedded cellular platform including inter operations tests (IOTs) in North America and China while working for ST-NXP Wireless. Implementation was mainly done in C.

Development of an optimized CPU energy management and generic flash memory driver (07/2005 - 12/2007)

SW development of an efficient power saving management on an embedded real-time cellular platform and development of generic flash memory device drivers while working for NXP Semiconductors. Implementation was mainly done in C.
